Prominent Figure of the Palestinian Authority to Headline Conference PDF Print

After the success of yesterday’s conference with the former director of the Mossad, Efraim Halevy, interviewed by the reporter and Middle East correspondent for the newspaper La Vanguardia and Antena 3 TV, Henrique Cymerman, the Jávea Neighbourhood Forum has announced that it will press on to carry out key conferences with prominent figures in the debate on the Middle East conflict.

joseribes.jpgThe President of the Jávea Forum, José Ribes, announced that a visit from a high political representative from the Palestinian Authority is foreseen, “offer us a complementary vision of the conflict that Halevy so brilliantly presented to us.”

This Foundation has programmed several activities with the purpose of promoting the exchange of experiences and information between young professionals from Europe and the Arab world. But with the conference given by Halevey, currently head of the for Strategic and Policy Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem School of Public Policy, the Jávea Forum has launched a new approach to debates with prominent figures of international prestige in order to explore a conflict which affects the entire world. The Efraim Halevy conference, which congregated representatives from the Israeli executive branch, public administrations, Jávea civil society and diplomatic representatives, as well as important political, social, judicial and social figures from Valencia, was, according to those present, an enriching activity due to the contents of the declarations, which have been widely published by the national, regional and local press.

The sectorial activities for young professionals, a key objective of the Foundation, will intensify with the Conference for Young Business Leaders from Europe and the Middle East scheduled after the summer. Additionally, May will host the Second Euro-Arab Partnership Meeting instigated by the European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner. “Nevertheless, these conferences complement our intention to become a distinctive Forum in the Mediterranean for political, economic, social and cultural debate between Europe and the Arab World,” according to declarations made by José Ribes.
