Launched by the civil society of Jávea, the main objective of the Foundation is to encourage direct contact, dialogue and understanding between the young men and women of the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions.
The Foundation, located in Jávea, was established with the clear mission to regularly organize a wide range of activities aimed at promoting good-neighbour-relations, regardless of religion, creed, ideology or political leanings. The Jávea Neighborhood Forum began taking shape in 2006, after the finalization of the Euromed Summit in Barcelona. Deeply concerned over the communication barriers between Western Europe and Arab countries, as well as the Middle Eastern conflicts, the founders decided to set up a space to promote meeting and dialogue between young people. The formal announcement of the founding of this Forum was made on the 19th and 20th May, 2006 and the Foundation was legally constituted in February, 2007. The objectives of the Foundation are embodied in the Jávea Declaration signed on the 14th July, 2007. |
