Exposición sobre Ramón Llull en la sede del Foro

La exposición, cedida por IEMed lleva el título “RAMÓN LLULL Y EL ENCUENTRO ENTRE CULTURAS”

ramonllull2.jpgLa inauguración de la muestra “Raimundus Christianus Arabicus. Ramón Llull y el encuentro entre culturas” se celebró el pasado viernes, 6 de agosto, en la sede de la Fundación, en Casa Primicias, de Jávea.

Laramonllull.jpg Fundación Foro Jávea de Vecindad presenta al público la exposición “Ramón Llull y el encuentro entre culturas”; una muestra que ofrece una aproximación a la vida, obra y pensamiento del filósofo e intelectual Ramón Llull. La muestra, que ha sido cedida por el Institut Europeu de la Mediterrània (IEMed) y que inauguraró la ex comisaria de Relaciones Exteriores de la UE, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, presenta 32 obras procedentes de colecciones particulares y del Centro de Documentación Ramón Llull de la Universitat de Barcelona. Se incluyen además dos portulanos del siglo XVI que han sido cedidos por el Instituto Cartográfico de Cataluña y cinco facsímiles de las obras de Llull manuscritas e impresas. También pueden verse presentaciones multimedias y multilingüísticas de cuatro obras, entre las que destaca el Breviculum, un compendio de escenas de la vida de Llull en miniaturas lujosamente ilustradas. La exposición tiene un carácter marcadamente bibliográfico.

Lecture - Group Discussion with Zaid Al-Lozi

al-lozi.jpgThe Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Spain, Zaid Al-Lozi, led a lecture-group discussion, entitled "Jordan, a Key Country in the Middle East", on 28th May at the headquarters of the Foundation

Zaid Al Lozi said, among other things, that only by ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories can peace and security be achieved in the Middle East. Al Lozi made these statements at a conference symposium entitled "Jordan, A Key Country in the Middle East," which was held at the Jávea Neighbourhood Forum Foundation. "Jordan has always fought for peace, we want peace, but Israel must completely change their attitude," added the ambassador. In his speech he lamented the lack of interest on the part of public and private sectors to invest in his country: "Compared to the more than 1,500 million dollars that France invested last year, Spain has not reached 100 million."

"Adventures and Misadventures of a Middle Eastern Correspondent"

On the 23rd of april, Tomás Alcoverro, correspondent for La Vanguardia in Beirut, Lebanon, was speaking at a conference entitled: "Adventures and misadventures of a Middle Eastern correspondent", in the Javea Neighbourhood Forum facility.  He wias speaking reflect on his wide experience as a journalist since 1970, and on his overall view of the Palestine-Israeli conflict.

Tomás Alcoverro, born in Barcelona, is possibly one of the most prestigious of the Spanish journalists at international level, who has covered wars, invasions, revolutions, coup-d’etats, Palestinian intifadas, and the most important issues of one of the areas of the world most in conflict, whose events have wide repercussions for the rest of the world.  He has been, and remains, a reference point for all other journalists who want to understand the Middle East and especially for those who wish to develop their work as journalists in areas of conflict.

Participation in the Anna Lindh Forum

forum2010.jpgThe IEMed (The European Institute of the Mediterranean) and the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the dialogue between cultures invited Jávea Neighbourhood Forum to participate in the Anna Lindh Forum which took place at Barcelona’s International Conventions Centre from 4 to 7 March 2010.

The Jávea Neighbourhood Forum took part in two ways. Firstly in “Agora” by attending the following workshops: “Education, intercultural learning and youth”, “Cultural and artistic collaborations” and “Creating spaces of peace and coexistence”.

Guidance, Support and Training for Families with Infirm Dependents

antonia_conejo_.jpgThe first talk organised by the Forum’s Friend’s Club was held on 25 February at Jávea’s Casa de Cultura.

About a hundred people came to the Casa de Cultura in Jávea for the first lecture to be organised by the Jávea Neighbourhood Forum’s Friends Club under the title: “Guidance, support and training for families with infirm dependents”. The lecture was given by Antonia Conejo, Doctor in Geriatrics at the La Pedrera Hospital in Denia, and Maite Pascual, Social Worker from the Jávea Social Centre.

Doctor Antonia Conejo is a graduate in geriatrics, and has 16 years’ experience in this speciality. She has been working at the La Pedrera Hospital in Denia for the past 7 years and before that worked in other hospitals.

Maite Pascual has been a Social Worker with Jávea Town Council’s Municipal Care Service for Dependents since September 2007. Before that she worked in other towns.

Urban Restructuring and current territory

Young Architects – Planners of some ten countries of the Euromediterranean region met in Jávea in late November with the aim of sharing knowledge, experiences and proposals for the cultural enrichment of future generations.

It was a professional meeting of architecture - urban planning between youth of the Mediterranean and Middle East area, organized by the Jávea Neighborhood Forum, The Mediterranean House, The Generalitat Valenciana and Jávea’s Town Hall.

Already in the presentation The Generalitat Valenciana and The Mediterranean House agreed on the importance of defending the general consistency in the interventions to prevent each municipality act without considering the hole area.

The different thematic blocks addressed issues of interest such as the analysis of trends in urban planning in recent decades and its influence today, recent experiences at the interior and on the periphery of cities, and experiences of territorial and landscape type.

Each block of the meeting consisted of a general conference, a panel of discussion followed by communications by participants and discussion on the issues.
