Urban Restructuring and current territory

Young Architects – Planners of some ten countries of the Euromediterranean region met in Jávea in late November with the aim of sharing knowledge, experiences and proposals for the cultural enrichment of future generations.

It was a professional meeting of architecture - urban planning between youth of the Mediterranean and Middle East area, organized by the Jávea Neighborhood Forum, The Mediterranean House, The Generalitat Valenciana and Jávea’s Town Hall.

Already in the presentation The Generalitat Valenciana and The Mediterranean House agreed on the importance of defending the general consistency in the interventions to prevent each municipality act without considering the hole area.

The different thematic blocks addressed issues of interest such as the analysis of trends in urban planning in recent decades and its influence today, recent experiences at the interior and on the periphery of cities, and experiences of territorial and landscape type.

Each block of the meeting consisted of a general conference, a panel of discussion followed by communications by participants and discussion on the issues.

Exhibition "Spain and the Arabic world: a century of political relations in Pictures"

inauguracion.jpgThe Jávea Neighbourhood Forum Foundation, according to its commitment to dialogue and cooperation between the Euromediterranean area and the Middle East, is hosting the exhibition "Spain and the Arabic world: a century of political imagery in" to show the history between Spain and the Arabic world of the last century.

Thanks to enormous effort and interest by the patrons of the Foundation for bringing Javea is a sample that reflects the values of solidarity and cooperation between the Euromediterranean area and the Middle East axis which form the basis of the ideology of the Foundation, the 148 images of the sample belonging to the photographic archive of the Spanish agency EFE, and is organized by Casa Árabe and the Three Cultures Foundation, have come to Javea to collect nearly one hundred years of political history between the two cultures that share a common past and require an effort for the future normalization of relations.

II Encuentro Euro-Mediterráneo en Jávea

La presencia de la Comisaria Europea de Relaciones Exteriores Benita Ferrero-Waldner afianza el II encuentro Euro-mediterráneo.

Con estas palabras ha sintetizado la Comisaria Europea para las Relaciones Exteriores y Política de Vecindad Benita Ferrero-Waldner, las conclusiones de las intensas sesiones de trabajo llevadas a cabo dentro del “II Encuentro Euro-Mediterráneo: recursos energéticos y desarrollo regional: un debate necesario” que se ha celebrado en Jávea durante los días 15, 16 y 17 de mayo. En el encuentro han participado representantes de los gobiernos de España, Libia, Egipto, Jordania así como de la Liga Árabe, el Institut Europeu de la Mediterrània y el Club Español de Energía, además de voces significativas del mundo de la investigación en energías y empresas y organizaciones del sector energético.

Interview with José Ribes, President of Jávea Neighbourhood Forum

The imminent creation of the House of the Mediterranean, which the Forum will form part; the celebration of the Second Euro-Mediterranean Meeting, hosted by European Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, and the programming of new and interesting activities are projecting the name of Jávea Forum in Spain and in the the world. Its president, José Ribes, leads a team that prepares and finalizes various activities to encourage collaboration among the youth of the Euro-mediterranean area. The first one is the political conference next May.

Projects promoted by Anna Lindh Foundation

The Anna Lindh Foundation will promote joint projects among the members of her international network

Jávea Neighbourhood Forum has participated this week in Barcelona at the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), in the work of the Anna Lindh Foundation Spanish Network, to promote the development of collaboration between the common foundations that make up This "network", to promote cultural sharing and dissemination meeting the objectives and principles of the Anna Lindh, and expand the "Network" to other countries.

In the meeting, opened by the president of the IEMed, Senén Florensa; Gianluca Solera, Coordinator of International Networks marked the guidelines of the work that should allow projects of this network soon with the Spanish network of 43 other countries on both shores Mediterranean. In an informal context, the representatives of Jávea Forum announced its readiness to cooperate actively. Among the proposals was presented to a sample set-exhibition devoted to women and their active role in improving the quality of life of their environments.

anna.jpgThe Anna Lindh Foundation, whose headquarters is located in the library of Alexandria (Egypt), is a "network of networks" of organizations and foundations, that drives from the Euro-Mediterranean Conference in Valencia in 2002, intercultural dialogue and cooperation in the Mediterranean. Formally established in 2005 between the EU and ten countries in the euromediterranean area: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Syria and Turkey. Among its main activities and objectives are to promote cooperation, exchanges and mobility, particularly among the young.
